The way we interact with one another has fundamentally changed. Differences are no longer tolerated. Family and friends have been cut off from one another, not just because of who they voted for, but because of what that vote represents.
For many Americans, a vote for Trump wasn’t just a vote for the political opposition. It was a vote for Hitler and everything he personified – hate, misogyny, racism, bigotry, and pure evil.
Everyone talks about political polarization but I think we’ve gone past that. We’re not just politically opposed to one another, we've reached a point of dehumanization and social isolation. Our neighbors are no longer our fellow Americans. They are inferior beings, unworthy of a dignified existence, solely on the basis of their political affiliation and who they voted for last November.
